On only the second day of a six week Hawaiian leg, Gabriel Medina threw down his first ever backflip, right in front of the Rip Curl house at Off-The-Wall, adding himself to a very exclusive list of individuals ever to execute the jaw dropping maneuver- Flynn Novak being the other. With probably the most controversial second place finish EVER in Portugal, huge forehand punts at Steamer Lane and now this, in the early days of 2012's North Shore stopover, the young Brazilian is truly making ripples in the surfing world and perhaps... changing some opinions?
