First World Tour Win For John John Florence

As predicted earlier in the year, John John Florence is rapidly becoming a force to be reckoned with, even amongst some of the World Tour seasoned veterans. John John is most definitely going from strength to strength this year, as he finds his rhythm with each event. Having battled calm and collectively through every stage- in every type of condition possible! the Hawaiian protege flew to the top, winning his first ever event on the ASP World Championship Tour in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, just moments ago.

John John opened the final, against Joel Parkinson, with a huge backside air reverse, scoring a 9 point ride and bagging a $10, 000 Nixon watch for best ariel manoeuvre of the event. Within minutes, John John had backed up his score with a second solid ride, finding the barrel and combo-ing Joel Parkinson early on in the heat. Parko answered back, finding a deep barrel of his own, posting a very respectable 8 point score but it was not enough to take Florence down.

The final ended with John John taking his maiden WCT win at Barra De Tijuca, Rio, Brazil. With the next two events calling in at Fiji, followed by Tahiti, it's not likely that John John will be slowing down his title campaign- backhand barrel riding, somehow does not seem to be an issue for Florence!

Here are some of the highlights from Day 6 at the Billabong Rio Pro 2012.
